Hot and Deadly Blog Hop

Welcome one and all to the Hot and Deadly Blog Hop!!

I'm will be your conductor on this little trip. I'm, Nya Rayne, a paranormal romance writer. All of my stories err on the side of romance with a good helping of erotica, and then a dash more of romance.  I've been writing professionally for a little over 12  years, but wrote my first story at the tender age of 15. It amounted to nothing, but was so much fun to write that I kept doing it.

This blog hop is all about those super hot and deadly characters we love and some we love to hate!! I'm really feeling this hop because instead of talking about the hero/heroine of the story we can talk about the villain. (snickers)  So, I'm going to begin this with a bang, from the first of my Anubi Series, Storm's Fury, the villain/hero, Terroar.  He deliciously sinful with his boy next door debonair looks and his need for excitement, but when he and Fury cross paths its an explosion on a global scale.

Check out this scene between him and Fury when they meet up for the first time in four years:

“Furiosus, it’s been too long.” The voice said in a slow, patronizing drawl that grated on Fury’s last nerve.
Fury spun on Terroar, his fists clenched, lips pulled back in a biting snarl. “You’re as good as dead.”
Terroar shot him a mocking frown. “Have you always been so angry?” He shifted slightly, his grin back in place as he rolled his shoulders and shoved his hands into the pockets of his dark slacks. “Or is this a new emotion?”
“Have you always been a backstabbing bastard?” Fury spat at him. “Or is that new for you?”
“Oh come now, friend, how long are you going to be mad about that?” Terroar scratched the side of his head and grinned. “That was what, a couple of years ago?” Silence greeted his statement. “Would it help if I told you it was for a good cause?”
“Fuck you and your reasons.” Anger roiled through Fury. How dare Terroar call him friend when, their friendship ended the moment Terroar handed him over to those animals? His fists clenched, his fangs elongated, and Fury charged forward, claws outstretched, aiming for Terroar’s jugular.
Terroar vanished and reappeared a few feet away. “Come now. Do we need to fight? It was business, really. No hard feelings, eh?”
“You betrayed me. Of all Anubi, Terroar—me, the one you called brother! You gave them the binding spell that kept me weak. You did that! You attacked Hatrid, and tried to kill me and my mate.”
Terroar raised his hands in mock surrender. “Now, now, I wasn’t trying to kill you. I was simply getting your attention. The rest of that, I can’t really claim.”
“Getting my attention?” Eyes narrowed, Fury pointed at the hole in his shirt and rapidly healing wound left over from the ice spear. “How the hell is a hole through my damn shoulder just getting my attention?”
“I could’ve aimed more to the left.”
That only served to anger Fury more. Fury lifted his arms in a quick arc, drawing on the static electricity in the air. Before Terroar could gage what he was doing, Fury hurled the sizzling ball at Terroar’s head.
Terroar dodged the attack by leaping onto a low-lying branch of a nearby tree. “What the hell was that for?” The bastard actually seemed confused.
Fury refused to allow himself to get sidetracked by Terroar’s nonchalance. This was his tactic. Up and until the viper, struck, his adversary would believe he was talking to a long lost friend. Terroar could joke and laugh with a person one second and decapitate him the next, and all with a smile on his face. No, he wasn’t going to fall for it.
“Pick one.”
Terroar leapt from the tree, brushed the shoulder of his pristine white polo shirt off, straightened out his pants, and shot Fury a bored look before fanning his hand dismissively. “Is it my fault you can’t take a joke?”

The next sexy villainess I want to introduce you all to is the Higher Highness, Gloria Gale, from my futuristic romance, For His Love. I love Gloria because she's not only the leader of the free world, but she's the world greatest feminist.  Okay, so she's a little twisted too.  Okay, so maybe she's more than a little twisted, she's insane. Its really not her fault, she was just written that way. (snickers)

Check out this scene between her and one of her subordinates:

“Ma’am, your itinerary,” Lady LaDina interjected.
“Well, don’t just stand there.  Get on with it.” The Higher Highness pushed to her feet and approached a row of wire cutters of varying sizes, degrees of sharpness, and colors. “What is it this time?” She decided on a pair of red handled wire cutters.
“It’s a benefit for the Feline Foundation.”
Gloria scowled over her shoulder at her assistant and turned back to the task at hand. “I hate cats. You can’t trust them.  They sit in corners watching you, just waiting for you to let your guard down so that they can steal your breath,” she whispered to herself, and asked as she settled into a chair near her pupil, “Could you hand me that jar?”
“Yes, we’re all aware of your distaste for cats, but you must attend. It would be an insult if you didn’t,” Lady LaDina said, stepping into the room to retrieve the jar. She made quick work of passing it to the Higher Highness before backing out the room to take up her previous position.
“Before you get into the tedious details, tell me, will he be ready?”
Lady LaDina glanced from the Higher Highness to Tawny, her pupil, and then turned her attention back to the Higher Highness. “Xavier?”
“Who else would I be talking about? Sometimes, LaDina, you can be so dense. Did you forget he was my only reason for going to that godforsaken place?” She turned back to Tawny then, stroked her fingers along the outside of the woman’s elongated arms and finished, “If I could get away with it, I’d nuke the entire state.”
“My lady, they are one of your biggest supporters.”
“That’s why I said, ‘if I could get away with it’.”
Lady LaDina stepped back and bowed her head. “Of course, and no, I did not forget. Dr. Lobush assured me he would be ready upon your arrival.”
“His memory will be wiped, correct?”
“Yes, ma’am.”
“The other changes I requested will be complete?”
“Yes, ma’am.”
Gloria picked up the pliers she’d laid in her lap and smiled at nothing in particular. “Maybe, if he’s as good as I’ve heard, I’ll give you Aro,” she declared, and then amended, “Maybe not Aro—he’d be too much for you—but I’ll give you one of them.” She leaned forward and patted Tawny’s cheek.  "Now back to that lesson."

Mythology Blog Hop

Welcome one and all to the Love of Mythology Giveway Hop!!

I'm going to be your conductor on this little trip. I am, Nya Rayne, a paranormal romance writer. All of my stories err on the side of romance with a good helping of erotica, and then a dash more of romance.  I've been writing professionally for a little over 12  years, but wrote my first story at the tender age of 15. It amounted to nothing, but was so much fun to write that I kept doing it.

I'm really feeling this blog hop, because mythology is one of the main plots (or the main plot) in my Anubi series.  The series revolves around Egyptian Mythology and the God of Death and Darkness (the gate keeper), Anubis.

What I love about Mythology is that no one knows the true story.  Everyone (no matter who you are) can put your own spin on it and make it be what you want it to be. I love Egyptian Mythology mostly because not only are the gods powerful, and the stories mesmerizing, but the mythology itself is also dark and sensual.

In my series, the Anubi were created from the crushed bones and blood of Anubis to help with the ushering of souls into the afterlife. They know no joy, no pleasure, only honor.  However, when Anubis creates creatures called the Yazaron to be protectors for his wife, Anput, she later uses them to assassinate him. On his dying bed, Anubis curses Anput to the bowels of the deepest hell and banishes the Yazaron to the far corners of the earth, to live as lifeless stone during high sunlight hours and insatiable scavenging beasts during  moonlight hours. They feed on humans, hoping to one day find the essence of Anubis, the only cure for their curse. The essence of Anubis can only be found in Anubis's female offspring. And it is now, millennia later, the job of the Anubi to protect these women from the Yazaron so that the curse is never broken.  Additionally, it is within these women that for the first time in their lives the Anubi will find true peace, the other halves of their souls, and the one person who will make their deadened hearts beat once more.

So if you find that interesting, check out the first two stories in the series:

A street-wise hustler, Stormy has been running most of her life from the creature that killed her family. However, when she meets Fury, a being so stubborn he could give a mule lessons, running is no longer an option. When he claims he’s her protector and the other half of her soul, Stormy would rather take her chances with the beast chasing her.

His dogged determination to protect her and his seductive expertise spark to life dreams she’d all but given up on: dreams of belonging to a family, and of having a life where running is nothing more than exercise. But with vile creatures hunting her, demanding her blood, and pack members who want her head instead of her help, Stormy will have to find a way to place her trust and heart in Fury’s care. If she can’t, then neither of them will have a future to dream about.

Hayze has roamed the earth for over three millennia alone, praying to one day find the other half of his soul. The one woman who would make his deadened heart beat once more. He never imagined he’d find her, Blaine, in a bloodied heap beneath the claws of a despicable Yazaron, the very bane of his existence. Hayze saved Blaine and as a reward was given three days to make her love him or he would cease to exist. Literally.

Blaine spent those three days in ICU fighting for her life. And now when Hayze’s time left on earth is borrowed at best, the woman for whom he would gladly die a hundred times over for would rather spit on him than look at him.

Fate, what a cruel bitch.

Sinful Sirens

Welcome one and all to the Sinful Siren's Blog Hop!! We will be celebrating some deliciously sinful women who know how to whip their men into shape.  But first lets get the mundane stuff out of the way.

I am a paranormal and futuristic romance writer. All of my stories err on the side of romance with a good helping of erotica, and then a dash more of romance.  I've been writing professionally for a little over 11 years, but wrote my first story at the tender age of 15. It amounted to nothing, but was so much fun to write that I kept doing it.

I also do reviews when I have the time, so if you have a gem you'd like me to devour, let me know!!

Now that we're done with that let's move on to the good stuff. My first Siren is, Stormy, from my novel, Storm's Fury.

And then there's Blaine from Unveil My Heart.

I would remiss if I didn't mention Phia from For His Love. The woman doesn't take no for an answer doesn't and does not have a problem buying her candy if it comes to that.

In a world where men are an endangered species, available only to the ruling class, and the majority of women date androids, the last thing Phia Zen wants is to buy her lover from a catalogue. Imagine her surprise when she receives her purchase, Donté, and discovers he’s a living, breathing man. Problem is he truly belongs to the most powerful woman in the world, and she’ll stop at nothing to get him back.

For the love of a real man, how much will Phia sacrifice? Her family? Her freedom? Her very life and the life of the only man she’s ever loved?

Contest:

In addition to the big contest, I'm also running a much smaller contest for my blog. The only thing you have to do is join my blog, leave a comment telling me about something sinful, and which if any of my books you'd love to read. Oh and share my link on your Facebook and other social sites.

I will choose three winners:

First Place - $25.00 Amazon Gift Card and your choice of one my novels

Second Place - $10.00 Musa Publishing Gift Certificate and your choice of one of my novels

Third Place - A copy of one of my novels; your choice.

A Tiger's Claim, an honest review

Blurb:

As the Alpha’s only daughter Shayna Andrews has always been treated like a rare gem, protected like royalty, and she’s suffocating.  Her longing to be independent has driven her to sneak out one evening after dinner. After relishing in being able to run free without an escort, she finds herself face-to-face with the enemy, miles from home, and nearly loses her life until a lone wolf comes to her aid.

Travis Hunter’s main objective is to destroy the Onyx Pack—a group of drug using, murdering rogue shifters. His seek-and-destroy plans are put on hold when he rescues a female from a brutal attack. The beautifully exotic tiger shifter, Shayna, stirs a passion he thought died with his long-lost mate.

When Shay’s first heat cycle slams into her, Travis has no choice but to submit to her needs—and his own. But there is always a price to sleeping with the Pack princess. Not only will they have to face her Pack, Shay and Travis will have to deal with a mating that is beyond a single night and could have consequences more than either of them had thought. And when Travis finds out Shay wears the enemy’s brand, things will go from bad to worse.

Warning: One alpha female who doesn’t take no for an answer, a wolf with more on the line than just his heart, and a combustible attraction that’s sure to cause more than one sweaty night.

A Tiger’s Claim by Lia Davis

I received a free review copy of A Tiger's Claim and found it an exceptionally easy read.  I devoured this novel in two days.  Had it not been for work, it would’ve been one day.  While away from the novel, I did find myself wondering what was going to happen next to Travis and Shayna (Shay).  That in itself should tell you this was a very decent read. Grammatically, the book flowed well. The plot was easy to follow (sometimes too easy), and the seeds the author sewed for the sequels, firmly planted.

Having said that, I must admit there were areas of the book that could’ve used a little more work.  Such as the main characters (Travis & Shayna) came across as one dimensional.  Also, when reading a shifter novel whose primary plot is mating, one tends to expect some blistering love scenes—details, semi-graphic love-making, etc.  I didn’t get that heat with this novel.  I instead was left wanting more.  Let’s just say if this were a lover, I would’ve rolled over and grabbed a toy to finish the job. Also, I’m not a cheerleader for super strong heroines who act as if they don’t need a man, but after about the third time that Shayna fainted/passed out/blacked out, I found myself wanting to reach into the pages and shove some steel into her spine.

Having said that, this was not a horrible read.  Quite the contrary. There was something very simplistic and innocent in the way Lia delivered Travis’s and Shayna’s tale.  So much so, that I can’t really define it.  However, it is the reason that if on a long road trip, flight, or just sitting on a beach relaxing, I would definitely pick up one of Lia’s books to keep my company.

Lia Davis may not be a seasoned writer, but she is definitely one to watch!!

Big Cocks and Shamrocks

Oh yes, it's that time again!!  Time to celebrate Big Cocks and Shamrocks!!  First, I suppose, I should introduce myself!!

I am a paranormal and futuristic romance writer. All of my stories err on the side of romance with a good helping of erotica, and then a dash more of romance. So, yeah, I like it haut!! I've been writing professionally for a little over 11 years, but wrote my first story at the tender age of 15. It amounted to nothing, but was so much fun to write that I kept doing it.

Now that we're done with the mundane stuff, let's talk about a few of my favorite cocks:

Hayze from my latest novella, Unveil My Heart, stands front and center in my mind.  He's not only sexy, but he's loyal, has the patience of a God, and doesn't mind wearing his heart on his sleeve, for the woman he loves.

He has three days to win her heart or lose everything...including his life.

Excerpt:

“Blaine, I said don’t worry about it. I have more money than Switzerland and, until you, I hadn’t a clue as to what to do with it. I was happy to finally spend some on a person who deserved it.”

Hayze’s voice rolled through her like a flame. His breath smelled of cinnamon and his lips looked so rose petal-soft she wanted to lean in that extra inch and kiss him, but she couldn’t. If she allowed herself to feel anything more for him, it would destroy her when he left her. And he would leave because he was too perfect, too rich, and she was too unlucky to have someone like him to call her own. Still, she couldn’t deny that while she pushed him away with her right hand, the left one kept reaching for him.

He smoothed the back of his hand down her cheek as he slowly licked his lips, his eyes begging her to stay a moment longer, to hold on to this stolen moment between them.

“I-I-have to pay you back somehow,” she whispered, not breaking the contact.

Hayze tucked a few strands of hair behind her ear. “I assure you it’s not necessary.” His eyes searched her face from brow to chin and cheek to cheek, in a whisper of promises and apologies she wasn’t quite ready to hear.

“I don’t like being indebted to anyone.” She swallowed. “If I am, I feel like I’m that person’s property.”

He traced her lower lip with the tip of his thumb as he leaned in closer. “Would it be that bad, Blaine, to belong to me?” A rueful smile crossed his face before he hid it.

“I—You don’t know me. I don’t know you.” Blaine closed her eyes and tried to ignore the way her heart reached for his and her soul reveled in his touch. Something soft brushed her lips, but she couldn’t say it was his lips because lips weren’t supposed to be that soft. She opened her eyes and watched in fascination as the tip of his tongue flitted over his lower lip. “I have to pay you back,” she blurted, jerking her head out of his hold.

“If you must, I’ll make a deal with you.”

“A deal?”

Storm's Fury

My next cock of the walk would have to be Fury, from the first of my first Anubi Series, Storm's Fury.  He doesn't have much patience but he has enough sexiness to share out abundantly and still be the definition of smexxxy!!

Sometimes the very thing you've run from all your life is the one thing that can save you.

Excerpt:

Thunder preceded its lover, lightning, as it sliced across the sky. Rain poured down, blanketing the city, its goal to punish the millions of sinners calling it home.

Ambrosia “Stormy” Wyatt’s foot sank into a puddle of sullied water, saturating her sneakers. Fear stiffened her spine as a trash can crashed in the darkness behind her. She spun around and searched the shadows to her left and right. They seemed to breathe and swell with a heartbeat all their own.
They reached out to her, called to her, promised her a lifetime of pain whenever she got too close.
She hefted her bag higher on her shoulder, spun back and broke into a sprint toward the mouth of the alley.

Her breath shuddering, water soaked through Stormy’s clothing, carrying a chill deep into her marrow.

Stormy hurdled a bag of garbage that could have been mistaken for a dead body, determination her only friend. She knocked a nearby trash can over in hopes of slowing her unseen pursuers as she raced for the well-lit street.

She had to get to the light. They couldn’t get her there.

Stormy had stayed too long when she knew better. The little voice in the back of her mind urged her to stick to the original plan—three weeks—and get the hell out of town before leaving was no longer an option.

She hadn’t listened this time.

Instead, she had made a friend of Mrs. Velda Johnston, the sweet old woman rooming above her.

Mrs. Johnston had had a stroke earlier that week, and Stormy stayed to help with her affairs until her daughter could fly in. One extra day, that was all, and they were close on her trail once again.

She barreled around the corner and took only a second to scan up and down the sidewalk.

Pushing soaked strands of hair out of her face, she cursed under her breath. “Sin City, huh? Well, where the hell is a sinner when you need one?” There wasn’t a pimp, prostitute, sidewalk evangelist, drunk, or police officer in sight.

Stormy spared another second to glance behind her before she turned and bolted across the deserted street and down the strip toward the lights of the Bellagio.

She didn’t know a soul there, and she damn sure couldn’t afford one of their rooms even if she saved for six months. But she’d heard rumors that the hotel had so many lights it could be seen from a shuttle orbiting the earth. That was probably a lie, but any place was safer than where she was.

The noise came then, like a million screeching claws raking across a thousand chalkboards. It dug into her soul, buried itself deep into her mind and demanded she halt. A part of her felt compelled to obey, but the primitive part wouldn’t allow her to. It ordered her to run harder, faster, and further.

And run she had, but how much longer would she have to run before she felt safe again?

Stormy covered the remaining distance to the hotel and pushed through the revolving doors. Her chest heaved, and her lungs burned as she turned to look back into the night’s shadows.

She could feel their eyes on her, waiting for her to let her guard down and to give in to their silent call. The danger and their merciless intent were undeniable.

“Never,” she whispered, her breath fogging the glass door sealing her in. In that moment, she swore the shadows closest to the building reared up, transformed into a clawed hand that reached out across the ground toward her, leaving jagged ruts in the street.

She staggered back and through the second set of thick glass doors. “Never,” she hissed at the darkness.

Thunder rolled. Blades of lightening streaked angrily across the domed skylight high above her head and crashed into something in the near distance, sending a loud boom echoing through the night.

In the instant it took Stormy to understand that the sound was a transformer blowing, she was standing in a sea of darkness.

For His Love

The final cock I'd like to introduce you to would have to be, Donté, from the first novel I ever wrote, For His Love.  After being born into slavery, I'd have to say Donté is a beast not just in his sexiness, but his unwillingness to be dominated by anyone.

She loved him from the moment she saw him, but he was never hers to love.

Excerpt:

“Donté.” Dr. Lobush tried again, her hands in front of her, palms held out at him, “You’re still recovering. I need you to lie back down.”

He looked past Dr. Lobush to Phia. His eyes silently pleading for help, but she remained where she was, too afraid to make a move in either direction.

He shook his head, shoved one hand out at the doctor to keep her at bay, and yanked at the right side of his head with his free hand. He pulled angrily at his hair as if trying to dislodge something buried deep within his skull. He stumbled back against the wall before dropping to his knees, an unfathomable moan of agony escaping him.

Phia stepped forward, knowing she couldn’t do a thing for him, but desperately needing to do something or say something. “What’s wrong with it? Why is it hurting? Can you do something to help it?”

“His body hasn’t fully healed yet.” Dr. Lobush dropped to her knees in front of him. She pulled a syringe from the pocket of the white lab coat she wore. “I don’t know why he woke up. He should have slept for another few days.” She sighed as she plunged the tip of the syringe into his arm. “But I suppose there’s a first time for everything.”
