Release date...?
Well, if you haven't already guessed, Storm's Fury hasn't been released as of yet. We ran into a few little pot holes along the way, but have since moved on.
The new release date is Feb, 17th so please mark your calendars. In the mean time here's another little excerpt to get the blood pulsing:
The new release date is Feb, 17th so please mark your calendars. In the mean time here's another little excerpt to get the blood pulsing:
“You son of a bitch. Do you think this will make me want to have anything to do with you?” She crawled to her left only stopping when her hands met something cold, hard, and bumpy. Using it to pull herself up, she pressed her back against it and inched toward the small entrance.
Her bare feet sank into something wet and gooey and she bit down hard on her lower lip. It was all she could do to keep from screaming as the ooze made a home between the toes of her right foot. She closed her eyes, tried to still her rampaging heart, and continued to the entrance that she had been certain was only a few feet from her. Now that she was moving, it appeared a million miles away.
“Fury, this isn’t funny. If you wanted me gone, all you had to do was point me to the nearest road and call off your damn dogs, you prick.”
There was a sound, a soft scratching. She froze as it grew louder, the source drawing closer. It was behind her, but not nearly as far as Stormy would have liked. Her head swiveled in hopes of seeking out the disturbance, but her eyes met only a darkness so black she swore she was staring into the gaping mouth of Hell.
Stormy turned her attention back to the light and moved faster. Her big toe connected with something hard and she let out a stream of curses that would have made the captain of the U.S.S. Baatan blush. Pain shot up through her foot to her ankle, nearly bringing her to her knees. She fought it and instead tried to focus her attention on her surroundings.
She could tell from the opening and from the feel of the wall behind her, she was in a cave. Which meant there were bats and bats scratched. But bats didn’t growl. Stormy swallowed and inched away from the wall as the scratching drew closer and the growls became a guttural demand that embedded itself in every pore of her body.
“Bears hide in caves.” The realization sent a shiver racing down her spine.
Stormy broke into a run. She chanced one last look over her shoulder as she bolted from the cave opening.
Gleaming amber eyes froze her in her tracks.
“What the hell?” She couldn’t make out the full body, but from the height of the eyes, it appeared to be more man than beast. Another snarl had her stumbling out into the cool night, but she didn’t dare turn her back on the man-thing before her. “Wh-What do you want?” She didn’t expect an answer, but it, and not Fury, had to be the reason why she was here instead of back at Tempest’s house.
It moved within the stream of light so that its body was half in shadows. Onyx claws replaced what should have been toes. Its extremities were long and twitchy, the skin festering with pus-filled boils and open sores. The side of its neck was a gaping wound, black sludge oozing down over its shoulder to its bulky biceps. One long yellowed fang pierced the lower lip and protruded through the bottom of its jaw.
The monster dropped into a crouch, its talons pawing at the dirt as it threw its head back and howled, drool trailing in a long wet streams out one side of its mouth.
Her legs turned to noodles and every nerve in her body trembled at once as Stormy stared in disbelief at the creature clawing the ground at her. The thing turned cold, dead eyes on her and, in a voice born of a thousand demons from the most sadistic parts of Hell, snarled, “Blood.”

Excerpt Time!!!
Well, I have some bad and good news guys and gals. Due to some unforeseen issues in my Editor's life my release date for the 13th of January isn't going to happen--most likely. However, I am currently working with another fabulous editor who is working hard to get me as close to that release date as possible.
So until it is released, enjoy this little snippet from Storm's Fury, the first of my Anubi Brother Series:
So until it is released, enjoy this little snippet from Storm's Fury, the first of my Anubi Brother Series:
Thunder preceded its lover, lightning, as it sliced across the sky. Rain poured down, blanketing the city, its goal to punish the millions of sinners who called it home.
Ambrosia “Stormy” Wyatt’s foot sank into a puddle of sullied water, saturating her sneakers. Fear stiffened her spine as a trash can crashed in the darkness behind her. She spun around and searched the shadows to her left and right. They seemed to breathe and swell with a heartbeat all their own. They reached out to her, called to her, promised her a lifetime of pain whenever she got too close.
She hefted her bag higher on her shoulder, spun back and broke into a sprint toward the mouth of the alley.
Her breath shuddering, water soaked through Stormy’s clothing, carrying a chill deep into her marrow.
Stormy hurtled a bag of trash that could have been mistaken for a dead body, determination her only friend. She knocked a nearby trash can over in hopes of slowing her unseen pursuers as she raced for the well-lit street.
She had to get to the light. They couldn’t get her there.
Stormy had stayed one day too long when she knew better. The little voice in the back of her mind urged her to stick to the original plan—three weeks—and get the hell out of town before leaving was no longer an option.
She hadn’t listened this time.
Instead, she had made a friend of Mrs. Velda Johnston, the sweet old woman rooming above her. Mrs. Johnston had had a stroke earlier that week, and Stormy stayed to help with her affairs until her daughter could fly in. One extra day, that was all, and they were close on her trail once again.
She barreled around the corner and took only a second to scan up and down the sidewalk.
Pushing soaked strands of hair out of her face, she cursed under her breath. “Sin City, huh? Well, where the hell is a sinner when you need one?” There wasn’t a pimp, prostitute, sidewalk evangelist, drunk, or police-officer in sight.
Stormy spared another second to glance behind her before she turned and bolted across the deserted street and down the strip toward the lights of the Bellagio.
She didn’t know a soul there, and she damn sure couldn’t afford one of their rooms even if she saved for six months. But she’d heard rumors that the hotel had so many lights it could be seen from a shuttle orbiting the earth. That was probably a lie, but any place was safer than where she was.
The noise came then, like a million screeching claws raking across a thousand chalkboards. It dug into her soul, buried itself deep into her mind and demanded she halt. A part of her felt compelled to obey, but a primitive part wouldn’t allow her to. It ordered her to run harder, faster and further.
And run she had, but how much longer would she have to run before she felt safe again?
Stormy covered the remaining distance to the hotel and pushed through the revolving doors. Her chest heaved, and her lungs burned as she turned to look back into the night’s shadows.
She could feel their eyes on her, waiting for her to let her guard down and to give in to their silent call. The danger and their merciless intent were undeniable.
“Never,” she whispered, her breath fogging the glass door sealing her in. In that moment, she swore the shadows closest to the building reared up, transformed into a clawed hand that reached out across the ground toward her, leaving jagged ruts in the street.
She staggered back and through the second set of thick glass doors. “Never,” she hissed at the darkness.
Thunder rolled. Blades of lightening streaked angrily across the domed skylight high above her head and crashed into something in the near distance, sending a loud boom echoing through the night.
In the instant it took Stormy to understand that the sound was a transformer blowing, she was standing in a sea of darkness.

Aspen Mountain update and then some...
Evening Ladies and Gents!!
Up until recently there were no changes with Aspen Mountain Press (AMP), just the same old bull crap day in and day out. However, Sandra posted the following message to the AMP Yahoo Loop last night. Of course, I have been kicked off this loop even though Sandra is still making money off of my sales (FYI):
"The AMP site will be down for an indefinite amount of time as we try to ascertain the backend problem with the coming soon page. As soon as the error is found and corrected the site will be back up."
She posted this message, but the thing is her site was already brought down for an hour or so last week because she was still selling novels she no longer has under contract. In order to bring it back up she had to remove the novels she had up illegally.
Per the contract she can't have the site down for more than 30 days--I think--but she's claiming technical issues, which is not covered under the contract.
The woman is ridiculously slimy, I tell you!! If she can find a loop hole to save herself she'll slither threw it with the quickness!!
So, I'm still sort of stuck.
*scratches head*
But boy wouldn't I love an attorney's opinion?!?
In addition to that, I've heard from a good source that AMP might honestly be closing its doors. That news is just a little too good to be true and needs to be verified, but my fingers are crossed. Because I'd love to get He Belongs to Me back and into the hands of a publisher who would appreciate it.
That’s all for now, but as promised, I'll keep you guys and gals apprised to any changes.

Anyway, on the Musa end, I have my release date!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wait for it...

Now mark it down!!
